In 1958, praised by Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Deng Xiaoping, Zhu De, founders of P.R China, the first home-made car of China named “Jing Gang Shan” drove into Zhong Nan Hai, Which means Beijing automotive industry has started.
In 1960s, SUV BJ212 and light truck BJ230, so called twins, were populated in the whole country. Their appearance had filled the blanks of China home-made automotive market.
In June 1st 1983, the joint venture contract concerning the foundation of Beijing Jeep Ltd. (BJC) Beijing Jeep Ltd. (BJC) was approved by the government. BJC owned registered capital of 51.03 million yuan that 68.65% of the stocks were held by Beiqi, 31.35% by AMC.
In 1984, Beijing Jeep, Ltd. (BJC) was combined with AMC, an American carmaker, to found the first joint venture company, producing middle and top class off-road vehicles.
In Jan. 1994, Shan Dong Zhucheng Motor Vehicle Plant that owned the registered capital of 57.6 million yuan was purchased by Beiqi Motorcycle Co.
In Aug. 1996, launched by Beiqi Motorcycle Co., Beijing Foton was established by 100 registered companies in nationwide.
In June 2nd 1998, Beiqi Foton had officially been listed in SSE.
When the project of Beijing Hyundai started, the Co. would be the first joint venture vehicle enterprise after China's accession to WTO. And the heritage of Beiqi was carried out at that time.
In Apr. 29th 2002, a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement had been signed between BAIHC and Hyundai Motor Corporation.
In Oct 18th 2002, Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. was established.
In Dec. 23rd 2002, the first SONATA manufactured by Beijing Hyundai off-lined.
In May 24th 2003, cost of 0.6 billion yuan, Foton Auman motor base was established in Beijing Huairou, which covers an area of more than 520 thousand square meters, with total assets of 1.244 billion yuan and annual production capacity of 60,000 medium- or heavy-duty trucks
In Nov. 30th 2004, the No. 1,000,000 vehicle--AUV passenger car manufactured by Foton had been off-lined.
In Dec. 6th 2004 afternoon, foundation of the new factory located in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area of Beijing Benz - Daimler Chrysler Automotive Co., Ltd. had been established. Besides, German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder took part in the foundation.
In Dec. 2006, Beijing Automobile Research Institute Co., Ltd. was officially incorporated.
In Dec. 22nd 2006, the first home-made Mercedes-Benz E280 and E200K dropped into auto market. By now, Beiqi that had already formed a reasonable vehicle product structure owned full range of vehicles such as cars, commercial vehicles and SUVs.
In Apr. 26th 2007, BAIHC reformed the adjustment platform--Beijing Automobile Assets Management Co., Ltd. was founded.—by transferring 19 enterprises owned by BAIHC to BAAMC.
The ceremony of off-line of Beijing Warrior--military off-road command vehicle—had been held in Aug. 2nd 2007. By now, Beijing Warrior that had spent many years in researching & developing by the staff of Beijing Benz Co. had officially been equipped to the army.
In Aug. 26th 2007, the framework agreement of establishing a Beijing vehicle parts limited liability company—following as HNCC—had been signed between BAIHC and Beijing State-owned Assets Operation Co., Ltd.. HNCC owned the registered capital of one billion yuan that 60% of the shares were held by Beiqi, 40% by BSAOC.
In Oct. 19th 2007, the A joint venture contract of Beijing Foton-Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. had been signed by Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd., Beijing Foton Green Power Co., Ltd., Cummins Co., Ltd. and Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd. in Beijing Diaoyutai State guesthouse, aiming to set up a high-end light engine production base. As it is known, Cummins (China) is the only light-duty diesel engine production base aboard America, which is also the biggest investment project of producing light-duty engine in China.
Beijing Delphi Automotive Safety Products Co., Ltd. is a joint venture founded by Delphi Ltd. and BAICH in Oct. 26th 2007.
In Oct. 28th 2007, BAIHC and Beijing Shouqi Group Co., Ltd. had realized the win-win co-operation by increasing the investment of Shouqi Leasing Company, which promoted the development of Beijing automotive industry chains.
In Oct. 28th 2007, a joint venture established by BAIHC and Jiangnan Molding Technology Co., Ltd. was located in Beijing, supplying automotive exterior system parts esp. bumpers to local auto manufactures.
Established in Nov. 30th 2007, Beijing Hainanchuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. is another achievement of grouping development in Beijing auto industry, marking a new start of Beijing auto parts industry.
In Dec. 28th 2007, two signing ceremonies of cooperation agreement had been held at the same time between BAIHC--BIDIMC and BAIHC--Shanghai Delphi and Guanghua Shiyuan Vehicle Air Conditioner Co., which is a perfect period of the auto parts development in the year of 2007.
In Feb. 22nd 2008, the No. 1,000,000 vehicle manufactured by Beijing Hyundai had been off-lined at 10:00 a.m. It took Beijing Hyundai the shortest time--63 months--to become the No.6 member of “One million vehicles club”.
In March 3rd 2008, Chrysler Beryl was officially listed in China motor market.
In March 4th 2008, Mr. Wang Dazong presented as the GM of BAIHC.
In March 21st, 2008, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, manufactured by Beijing Benz – Dyke was successfully listed in China motor market.
In March 26th 2008, the first Sino-foreign joint venture of Beijing Foton Motor Co., Ltd.--Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co. was established. And the ceremony had been held in the HQ of BFMC. From now on, the annual production capacity of engines would be 400 thousands, which is the largest engine production enterprise in the country.
In Apr. 8th 2008, the ceremony of both completion of the 2nd manufacture plant and the release of new Elantra had been held in the morning which means Beijing Hyundai has stepped into a new stage of establishing the production and marketing system for 600,000, and also means the transformation that became a diverse vehicle manufacture enterprise to Beijing Hyundai. Besides, Mayor Guo Jinlong, Deputy Director of Beijing People's Congress Standing Committee Wu Shixiong, D.M. Lu Hao and Beijing Government Secretary-General Li Xiaohong presented the ceremony.
In Apr. 18th 2008, the donation ceremony of MPV was held by Foton Motor Co., Ltd. in Xiamen Olympic Museum. In the future, MPV would be the VIP car receipting celebrities.
In Apr. 20th 2008, Foton Motor Co., Ltd. released China’s first “Commercial & Family” vehicle – Midi whose design inspiration was from European CDV in 2008 (Tenth) Beijing International Automobile Exhibition.
In Apr. 21st 2008, Foton Motor Co., Ltd released their new AUV in 2008 (Tenth) Beijing International Automobile Exhibition. As the first low-floor city bus model, it was adopted by the new 3rd-generation fuel cell technology and Nickel-hydrogen battery, which realized the electric to electric hybrid power and zero emission. Besides, jointly developed by Tsinghua University, the power system of new AUV was the "11th Five-Year planning" 863 scientific and technological achievements. The release of the bus meant that China's environmental protection technology of automotives had reached the world advanced level before 2008 Olympics.
In July, 11th, the MOU signing ceremony of joint venture project regarding vehicle exhaust system had been held by Tenneco Inc. and BAIHC. BAIHC Chairman Mr. Xu Heyi, BAIHC Director & HNCC Chairman Guo Xinmin and Tenneco Chairman & CEO Gregg Sherrill signed in the MOU.
In July 16th 2008, Beijing Benz-Dyke Launched their 4th C-Class sedan--C230 avant-garde. C230 avant-garde, with his cutting-edge design, energetic power system, sensitive manipulation, as well as the trims of luxury, will bring a strong wave to the mid-level luxury car market in land.
In Jun. 3rd 2008, Beijing Foton Motor Co., Ltd. donated a value of 1.5 million yuan mobile medical vehicle to Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. And it is the second time after the first donation to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Health development of Chinese Medicine, vice chairman Sang Xijie and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Health Department director Mamat also attended the donation ceremony.
In Aug. 7th 2008, Beijing, Daimler AG and Beiqi Foton Co., Ltd. signed the letter of intent, agreeing to establish a medium & heavy-duty truck manufacturing company of 50: 50 a joint ventures in China. Besides, they would supply the relevant products and technologies, setting Foton AUMAN as the international development platform in the low-end commercial vehicle market segments.
In Aug. 7th 2008, the day before the Beijing Olympics, as a torchbearer of Shunyi District, party secretary, chairman of BAIHC Xu Heyi, took part in the torch relay held in Beijing.
In Sept. 1st 2008, Mercedes-Benz C-Class home-made sedan C200K—the 3rd stage product—officially was listed in the auto market.
In Sept. 11th 2008, Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. hired Samaranch Foundation as a global strategy consultancy. Samaranch indicated that it was an honor for him and his foundation to be the global strategy consultancy of Foton Motor Company, therefore, he would give counsel suggests to the internationalization of Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. as usual.
In Oct. 8th 2008, in Post-disaster Reconstruction in Sichuan Province (Beijing) Investment Meeting, Deyang City, Sichuan Province, People's Government and Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing, which marked the Sichuan factory project of Foton Motor Company are located in Deyang City.
In Oct. 21st 2008, BAIHC would achieve the line of 2 billion yuan comprehensive credit in Beijing Bank by signing the bank-corporate strategic cooperation agreement. Chairman of BAIHC Mr. Xu Heyi, G.M. Mr. Wang Dazong, D.G.M. Mr. Han Yonggui and Chief Accountant Mr. Ma Chuanqi, Chairman of Beijing Bank Yan Bingzhu, President Yan Xiaoyan attended the ceremony. Mr. Wang Dazong and Mr. Yan Xiaoyan representing BAIHC and Beijing Bank signed in the agreement.
In Oct. 23rd 2008, HNCC and Beijing BorgWarner Inc. held the ceremony of signing new products importation agreement. Director of BAIHC, Chairman of HNCC Mr. Guo Xinmin, C.E.O of BorgWarner Inc. Mr. Danicl Casssanta, D.C.E.O of BorgWarner Inc. and Chairman of Beijing BorgWarner Inc. Arthur Barrows attended the ceremony. Mr. Wang Dazong and Mr. Arthur Barrows representing HNCC and BorgWarner Inc. signed in the agreement.
In Nov. 13th 2008, BAIHC and Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. built the strategic partnership by signing the relevant agreement. The strategic cooperation agreement included that giving full play to use resources and geographical advantages, achieving the Info. exchange, strengthening the cooperation in parts matching aspect and so on.
In Nov. 18th 2008, designed and manufactured by Beijing Foton Motor Co., Ltd., AUMARK saloon car that was participated in Guangzhou Motor Show, as the first C-type luxury saloon car in land, became the focus of public and media immediately.
In Dec. 10th 2008, the signing ceremony of transferring and adjusting the equity of Beijing Jiangson Automotive Parts Co., Ltd was held in BAIHC. As a result, 51% of the stakes were held by Hong Kong Jiangsen Investment Co., Ltd. 39% by HNCC and 10% by Guanghua Automotive Parts Co., Ltd.
In Dec. 23rd 2008, Beijing Hyundai SONATA NFC was listed in the market.
In Dec. 29th 2008, located in southern CBD, East Third Ring Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, the Penglong building had grandly been opened, which meant another break poiont in setting up the trade service platform of BAIHC
In Dec. 30th 2008, the signing ceremony of reorganizing Beijing Automobile Works Co., Ltd. through the cooperation between BAIHC and Beijing Auto Assembly Plant was held in Holiday Inn Central Plaza Beijing. Chairman of BAIHC Mr. Xu Heyi and Chairman of BAAP Mr. Yao Changsheng representing BAIHC and BAAP both signed in the agreement.
